Part II - Emily's Birth

We finally got a room at 1:15. Fifteen minutes after we arrived... it seemed a lot longer than that. Allie was having contractions almost 1 minute apart. I thought it was going to happen any minute.----

On sunday i was the one cleaning up. You know how they say woman want to clean just before the baby is going to be born? Well it was me. The last few days I was energized. Maybe it was because Allie was home and I was getting more than a few hours of sleep. That is the more likely explanation. But I'd like to think Emily had at least a little to do with it. this time around Allie was in a lot more pain and was not able to do things that she was able to do when she was carrying Danica. So even if she had the urge to clean, she really could not do it.

---- We got in the room at 1:20 and I told the nurse Allie wanted the shot... the epidural or however you spell it. She said " Lets check in first". Here is my wife having long and painful contractions within a minute of each other and the nurse just wants to check her in?? Give her the shot. After a whole list of questions Allie was 'checked in'. The doctor came in and examined Allie. She was 5 cm dilated. She said she had the shot doctor on the way. Sure enough the 'shot doctor' arrived at 1:35. At this point Allie was shaking and in very severe pain.
We went outside. Ten minutes later we returned and wondered where Allie had went. What was once a crippled, pain ridden woman - was now a somewhat relaxed, but still shivering, less pain ridden woman. The medication is really the way to go. I can't bear to see Allie in pain and Allie can't bear to be in pain... so it works out best for all parties.

I have to head to the hospital....

....to be continued.
