Danica's Eye Doctor Visit

So I took her to the eye doctor yesterday. When she got up from her nap at 12 her eye was still bothering her and was red tearing. When she first hit herself in the ye it looked like someone had punched her but now that was fading. She was cranky and being very whiny.

We left for the doctors office at 1:30 and when we got there at 1:50 Danica has just fallen asleep. Just in time for me to wake her back up. I figured she was going to continue to be a grump. I brought her in and the office was not very crowded, but the floors looked like the cleaning person was on strike. I was a little nervous. It also said in the patient registration info (the web site for the place is www.uceyecenter.com) not to bring any children who are sick. I was not in there more than 2 minutes and this little kid was coughing his head off. His mom must of blew her nose about 10 times in five minutes... the disgusting and loud time of nose blowing too. So the no sick kid at eye center thing gets scrapped when I bring my little daughter there. So i was expecting the worst. But people started getting called in and finally it was just me and 'D' in the waiting room.

She sat on my lap the whole time and was oddly well behaved. We got called in and when the doctor came in to see her, her eye looked so good you would have never thought she had injured herself. The examining room was immaculate. Laminate hardwood floors, neat, clean, and professional. They had toys and in the corner of the room a book shelf with stuffed toys on it. I told the doctor that 6 hours ago she looked like she had been punched in the eye. He said he would look. Sure enough she had scratched her cornea.

He put some drops in her eye, much to Danica's displeasure, and told me she would be fine in a day or two. The rest of the day Danica was in excellent spirits, as was I. She took a late afternoon nap and was a joy the rest of the evening. A joy until I left for work. She then awoke numerous times at night and annoyed her sleep deprived mom with her whining and sleeplessness.

But at least her eye is ok. My first real crisis (if you can call it that) and I think I did ok. With many more to come i don't think i'll cry as hard the next time.
