Parenting and Blogging

There was an article this Sunday about parents and blogging. It was either in the Start Ledger or the Home News Tribune... both New Jersey papers I subscribe to. I get them both on Sunday for the coupons... and I enjoy reading them too if I get the chance.
So I guess I am not the only one blogging about wiping dirty behinds and getting throw up all over my clothes. I am very late to the show... and it is all Danica's fault. Just kidding. But other than reading Jenna's blog (she sometimes comments on this one) I haven't really looked at other blogs from parents. Apparently every blogging parent is busy on their keyboard while their child is busy getting into trouble. I use my lap top, but my back is still turned to Danica. If she sees the laptop screen illuminated she comes over instantaneously. So I can't let he see me typing.

While I type my blog I am not giving Danica the 100% attention that I usually give her. really how could I? My blog is way more imprtant than Danica's safety. But then my blog would be nothing wilthout Danica. Hmmm.

I imagine some parents type their blog while their child is sleeping. For me I need all the sleep I can get so that is not an option. Instead I type and turn my head to make sure she's staying out of trouble.

The easiest way to type my blog is to turn on Blues Clues. If a drug dealer could somehow harness the power of BLues Clues and draw it into a syringe he'd have some new designer drug. It is truly crack for Danica. She absolutely loves Blues Room. I feel guilty whenever I turn it on... but she loves it. Heck she loves Blue more than she loves me and if she could talk right now that would be something she could say. "Daddy stink... Blue great!... Mommy Best" If only I had blue floppy ears and a cute voice. But then I probably would not have met Allie. And Danica wouldn't look as cute either. But we would save money on formula because we could feed her dog food. I guess it is all hypothetical at this point.

The bottom line is I am late to the parent blogging party. The keg is tapped and everyone has passed out.

I think I am late to the game too, but you have to remember that you are documenting something that you will have forever, for your children to look back on.

I generally write when they are sleeping.

And regarding Blues Clues, don't feel too guilty about turning it on. Sometimes they need something extra, and sometimes a break is nice, too.

Keep blogging!
